Deborah Horn has always been passionate about dog rescue, and as she entered her 50's then 60's she wanted to find a way to ensure all low income seniors could get help for pet care. Deborah’s career includes over 30 years in information technology, with two years as a veterinary practice manager. She worked to establish the Helping Seniors Keep Pets organization so seniors would not have to choose between food for their pet or for themselves, and so seniors would not lose their pets due to financial iissues.
I have worked in healthcare for the last 34 years. I began my career as a Registered Nurse after graduating from New Mexico Junior College with an Associate Degree in Nursing. Shortly after that I moved to Nashville, Tennessee and attended Vanderbilt University where I graduated with a Master’s Degree in Women’s Health and Perinatology. I worked as a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner until returning to school and obtaining a post-master’s certificate from The University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas in 2002 as a Geriatric Nurse Practitioner. Since that time I have worked with the aging community in the Dallas area. As an animal lover and as a person who enjoys working with aging individuals I understand the importance of pets to their owners and owners to their pets. I currently live with my partner Kathy, 2 cats (Digit and Casper) and 2 dogs (PD and Taz) in Murphy Texas. I enjoy my 2 adult sons, camping, traveling and spending time with my friends.
